Why is it important to practice yoga during your pregnancy?

According to the Mayo Clinic, research indicates that Prenatal Yoga can:

  • Improve sleep

  • Reduce stress and anxiety

  • Increase the strength, flexibility and endurance of muscles needed for childbirth

  • Decrease lower back pain, nausea, carpal tunnel syndrome symptoms, headaches and shortness of breath

Attending these classes can help you cultivate relationships with a tribe of women who are going through the same changes in their bodies as you. Classes are often casual, with open conversations between the students and teachers. (This is why men are not invited to attend our Prenatal / Postpartum classes).

All of our teachers are certified in Prenatal Yoga, which means the classes are safe and informed. After giving birth, you may be searching for comfortable, familiar places to bring your newborn (up to three months old) and stretch areas of the body that become stiff after many hours of breastfeeding and carrying a little human being all day.
