Santa Fe Community Yoga partners with Pranakriya to offer you a reputable 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training. Pranakriya Yoga is one of the most solidly grounded, transformational and logically structured yoga teacher trainings in the country.
Our program trains practitioners who have a love for yoga born out of practice and experience. Our goal is to skillfully encourage personal reflection regarding physical, mental and emotional aspects inherent in each pose helping students recognize that what is discovered on the mat can be used in everyday living. Our lead trainer is compassionate and reassuring, asking teachers in training to play with the edges of their comfort zones so they can feel fully alive. Once they discover this aliveness, they in turn can share it with others.
About the Teacher Training Program
Our program is steeped in the Tantric Hatha Yoga Philosophy bus also created from adult learning models. We thread together asana, anatomy, pranayama, meditation, philosophy , relaxation, observation and hands-on assisting as well as reading and working with groups and individuals.
The training is taught in nine intensive weekend and class size is limited to 20 students. This format supports students having time to integrate the material, complete homework and prepare for assigned practice-teach sessions. In the first half of the program, students will learn effective methodologies for teaching postures, pranaymas and centerings. Students will also learn about the history and philosophy of the Tantra Hatha Yoga tradition. In the second half of the program, students will learn how to design and lead three kinds of classes: a vinyasa workout class, a meditative posture class, and a gentle stretch class. Our graduated have a deep understanding of the teachings of yoga and will be prepared to teach in a variety of settings, including yoga studios and gyms.
You must meet the following requirements to take our program:
- At least one year of yoga practice (at least six months of classes with a certified instructor.)
- The ability to demonstrate an experiential understanding of yoga practice and its benefits.
The Pranakriya Basic 200-hour YTT is registered with the Yoga Alliance and meets or exceeds all its requirements for 200-hour teacher training programs.
“Students in the program work hard, have a great time and leave the program fully prepared to teach in the real world.”
-Yoganand Michael Carroll
“When I decided to commit to YTT, I didn’t see myself teaching. I just wanted a deeper practice: what I got in return was so much more. An awakening within, a renewed sense of belonging, a strong confidence to teach and a broad yet flexible training that I could apply anywhere and with various populations. What I know for sure is not all YTT’s are the same. I am glad that I studied with Pranakriya. As I’ve ventured out into the world to instruct those with sleep issues as well as military service members, veterans and their families, I know that I had one of the best yoga trainings around. It has definitely prepared me to work with specialized populations in a way that I didn’t see coming!"
“I came to the Pranakriya 200 hour training with the intention of teaching yoga. Not only did I land my first teaching job within a month of graduation – but the most important gift from the training was what I gained on the inside. The Pranakriya teachers and community treated me with loving kindness and compassion. This community helped me to find parts of myself that I never knew existed – and an incredible light within myself that I had been unconsciously hiding for much of my life. The training was extremely organized, and extremely thorough for potential teachers. Not only did I leave feeling prepared to lead a class – but I left feeling lighter in my soul. I continue to be grateful on a daily basis for the life I have as a yoga teacher – and grateful for my Pranakriya roots.”
“During Pranakriya YTT I learned how to teach poses, not just perform them. The Pranakriya methodology instilled in me the confidence to lead classes that range from gentle to vigorous through the numerous practice teaching opportunities. Yet as much as I gained knowledge of the postures, I also discovered so much more about myself as a yoga practitioner on and off the mat. I changed both physically and spiritually, and will always be grateful for the connection to the Pranakriya lineage.”
“After completing the 200 hour teacher training program, I felt confident that I could walk into a class and lead students through a safe and supported practice. Being able to practice teaching during the training was a wonderful way to begin to feel comfortable in the teacher role and it gave me the opportunity to observe different people and body types move through the postures. We learned to teach three distinct types of classes, almost assuring that we would be prepared to lead several types of classes upon completion of the program. Because of the thorough training, I was able to secure teaching jobs at local studios and put my skills to use immediately following graduation. If I had to do it all over again, I would still choose this training.”

About the Lead Teacher
Jacci Gruninger MS, C-IAYT, E-RYT 500, RPYT
A Santa Fe based yoga teacher, educator and human being, Jacci feels she has been on a journey of awareness and awakening her whole life. She reflects that she was practicing “yoga” before she ever practiced yoga. This way of being alive and present for every experience is what calls to her most deeply and infuses her teaching. She uses the practice of yoga to see how her habits restrict, distract and cause suffering. Using the skill of witnessing, which she learned from her teachers Yoganand Michael Carroll and Sudhir Jonathon Foust, she is now better able to see her habits and open to her life finding more freedom and joy. As a teacher, Jacci invites her students to go inside and feel rather than focusing on what the pose looks like. She uses the techniques of inquiry, witnessing and allowing to encourage students to be present with their life in the moment. Jacci has over 1500 hours of training in a wide variety of yoga disciplines, in addition to receiving her Masters of Health Science from The George Washington University. She completed her 200 and 500 hour yoga teacher training at the Kripalu Center for Yoga in addition to completing a second 500 hour certification in yoga therapy. She is a certified yoga herapist (C-IAYT), registered prenatal yoga teacher (RPYT) as well as a Thai Yoga Massage Therapist. Jacci is the Executive Director of the Pranakriya School of Yoga Healing Arts as well as Director of their 200-hour, Basic Prenatal, Restorative Yoga, and Gentle Yoga Teacher Trainings.
