Heavyweight Yoga | Ryan Harwood

 

Based in Vinyasa, my class focuses on strength building, mindful breath work and full body awareness. I originally started Heavyweight Yoga as a compliment to other modalities that I train and coach like weightlifting, CrossFit, strongman, etc. It’s a hands-off class but open to all practitioner levels, and we emphasize orthopedic safety.


About the instructor:

My yoga journey started in a hot room at the beginning of Covid. My wife dragged me in kicking and screaming but I shortly fell in love. I dedicated the next 2 1/2 years to just yoga, putting all my strength training aside. When I came back to lifting I found my mobility had changed so much I had to re-learn everything AND I started setting new PRs! Next I would dive into to relationship yoga has with literally everything else, I attended 200hr yoga school at SWEAT studio in Albuquerque and have since been connecting athletes to yoga as well at yogis to other modalities since! Health and wellness isn’t one size fits all, whether it’s physical, mental or spiritual, and everyone has a place no matter your size, background, identity, experience or state of mind.
